Het Zuidelijk Toneel
In Vondels Angels, Sarah Moeremans and Joachim Robbrecht descend into the slipperiest depths of hell. Abseiling all the way, with the full ensemble, helmets and head torches. From the hottest lava lakes they fish out the rebellious angels from Vondel’s world-famous play Lucifer. Remember how they ended up there?
Because they rose up against God’s insane decision to raise imperfect humankind above them (organize your own feedback, you’d think, but no). And look now: 400 years after Vondel, it seems humankind has completely neglected its duty of care for the world and for its fellow human beings. With blazing words, new fire and unsparing questions, the angels once again take on God, morality and human failure. You travel along towards the gates of heaven as a reservist on the fallen angels’ comeback tour. May Angels Intelligence save us.
