What does it mean to stand together?
In her new show ‘Wij Tegen De Wereld’, young singer-songwriter Rosa Spruit explores both the strength and the fragility of togetherness. What began as a remark about broken love – “it was supposed to be us against the world, not us against each other” – turns into a search for the limits of love, loss and resistance.
The title sounds like a battle cry, and that is no coincidence. While the world burns with polarisation and unrest, Rosa Spruit’s Dutch-language pop songs seek out the tension between intimate connection and social criticism. She sings with her visor up, in vivid lyrics that touch and confront.
Accompanied by multi-instrumentalists Eli Goffa and Dennis Jansen, a dynamic musical palette unfolds: from small and fragile to grand and sweeping. Together they form a powerful whole that moves the audience with tender ballads, sharp observations and stirring arrangements.
‘Wij Tegen De Wereld’ is a show for anyone who wants to be moved by music that not only sings of love, but also captures the spirit of the times.
