Poor Cinderella has to scrub and clean all day, while her two naughty stepsisters do nothing. When a poor slob comes to the door one day, Cinderella shows her good heart by giving him food. And now let that wanderer be Prince Ramiro's counselor in disguise…

This opera masterfully combines comic scenes with moving and magical moments and Rossini's music is exuberant and accessible. Although the story doesn't quite match the Grimm fairy tale or the Disney film, the opera has a wonderfully romantic happy ending.
