You are nineteen, have just moved into a room, have just started a new course, and suddenly you are afraid. At first you hope it's just a dip, but the fear remains. Afraid of mirrors, of eyes, of people on the street. You are startled by loud noises and wonder whether what you hear, think and see is still correct.

At twenty-five you sit down and try to understand the past years. Will things get better, or will you be stuck in this endless fear forever. In BANG Hanneke van der Paardt tears her life apart and then tries to put it back together.

BANG is about those bizarre years in which you have just left your parents, but have not yet arrived anywhere else. About how fear can grab you mercilessly in that phase and about the question of what on earth you should do.

With BANG Hanneke van der Paardt won the BNG Theater Prize 2025, the prize for emerging theater talent in the Netherlands.
