After overwhelming responses, nominations and sold-out houses, Nachtwacht is back. What began as a radical theatre experience grew into a show that audiences and makers alike couldn’t let go of. In 2027, Nachtwacht heads out into the night once more.

Nachtwacht is no ordinary show. It is a three-and-a-half-hour interdisciplinary farewell rave in which acting, dance and live music fuse into an all-encompassing sensory experience. The evening slides into the night. A heartbeat falters, swells and turns into an unstoppable beat that carries the audience off towards the unknown.

At its centre is Dhr., a man in the last months of his life. Around him move family, ghosts and memories. As he prepares for the end, his children grapple with a new era. They balance between loyalty, longing and the need to choose for themselves who they want to be.
With a sharp yet loving eye, Nachtwacht weaves together humour and melancholy. The show holds up a mirror and takes a critical and empathetic look at growing old, mortality and the Dutch care system. At the end of the night, something may break open. A moment of liberation. A chance to choose again who you are.
