After the success of the Efteling musical 'Efteling tells... Joris and the Dragon', Efteling brings a new and exciting story to Dutch theaters: the story of Baron 1898. In the family musical Baron 1898, the young Jochem and the traveler Gustav meet each other in the inn of a small village on the Zompige Heide. Gustav is on his way to his great love in a faraway country and tells Jochem passionately about his adventures. When he leaves, Jochem helps him cross the dangerous Swampy Heath. No longer as an adventurer, but as the greedy Baron Hooghmoed. He has changed since he discovered that gold can be found deep in the soil of the Swampy Heath. Blinded by the glitter of gold, everything must give way: his great love, the nature around the Swampy Heide, Jochem. Everything. Will Jochem realize in time that it is up to him to save his village and all the nature around it from destruction? And who are those elusive singing figures that emerge from the mist at dusk?
