Why those two!? Because art might just save the world after all… After the Second World War, Joseph Beuys caused a sensation in the art world. He believed that every human being was an artist and could change the world through art. That is why he wanted to admit everyone to his classes at the art academy. Would Adolf Hitler, the aspiring painter who was twice rejected by the art academy, still have become a dictator? As Nazi leader, Hitler went all out on art as a propaganda tool and branded all art that did not convey the Nazi ideal as ‘degenerate’. Besides being an artist, Beuys was also a political activist and co-founded the German Greens. In I Like Art and Art Likes Me, art is dragged out of its safe reserve and used to wage an ideological war.

Silke van Kamp is a sucker for rewriting stories. Last year she caused a stir with F*CK LOLITA (winner of the Toneelschijfprijs 2026), for which Annet Bremen, based on Silke’s idea, rewrote the story of Nabokov’s iconic heroine Lolita. Now she is staging a fictional meeting that could have changed the course of history if it had ever taken place!
