Jeugdtheater Carrousel
'I'm only six. Tom, I have your knife. (Pom pom pom.)' Do you remember this children's film classic? Mees accidentally has his best friend Tim's pocket knife in his pocket, just when he appears to have just moved away. Mees sets out on his own, through a world that sometimes feels much too big for a six-year-old boy. He does everything he can to get the knife back from his friend – with a letter, through an advertisement, by train. Secretly, because his father is not allowed to know about it. But whatever he does, it doesn't seem to work. Until Mees hears about a talent show on television, which will be shown throughout the Netherlands. Throughout the Netherlands, including Tim! With a brand new drum, two sticks and a song full of secret language, he steps on stage and sings.
Het Pocketmes (6+) is based on the book by Sjoerd Kuyper, but is at least as well known as the cinema film (1992) and TV series (1993) - for which it was awarded numerous prizes. Youth Theater Carrousel brings this nostalgic crowd favorite from the nineties to the theater for the first time. Stubborn and contemporary, but just as moving, adventurous and funny as back then. Because the story is timeless. About friendship and saying goodbye, about growing up and becoming independent. And about the courage to do it. We are a passionate amateur theater company from Gemert, consisting of 12 crazy players, and we stage a new family performance every year. Surprising, different, visual and full of imagination — that's what we stand for.
