Myrthe Boot is a Dutch-language artist who, with her band ‘de Bootsmannen’, writes songs about personal experiences with universal themes.

EILAND is a music theatre show about the longing for your own orderly, ideal world. About surrounding yourself with everything that makes you happy and keeping at a distance whatever stands in your way. About the need to discover, to set off on adventures without limits and, at the same time, to stake out a safe space.

Reflecting on the water, Myrthe sets out from her own metaphorical boat to find an answer to the question: what is life really all about? Why do we give our attention to people and things that don’t make us happy? How do you create your own safe island, your own happiness?

In an atmospheric, poetic setting, Myrthe takes you on a musical journey to idyllic shores and endless vistas beyond the limits of the possible.

Alongside music theatre at the Willem Nijholt Academie, Myrthe Boot also studied Social Work – an influence you can hear in her music, which refuses to be pigeonholed. With strong influences from kleinkunst, jazz, blues, pop, country and other styles, Myrthe and the Bootsmannen create their own warm sound.
