Nora of een poppenhuis
Confrontational classic about marriage
It is one of the most influential plays ever and still extremely current: Nora or a dollhouse by the Norwegian writer Henrik Ibsen from 1879. It is not without reason that the piece is on the World Heritage List for documents. In this timeless classic, a woman tries to break free from the expectations of others – especially those of her husband. Her search for freedom and self-respect is painfully recognisable. Because how equal are men and women in our contemporary society? On the other hand, so-called tradwives glorify the 1950s housewife and a growing group of young men long for conservative gender relations.
