In Panama Pictures’ new show, Don’t despair, more and more certainties fall away, step by step. The monumental suspended structure that carries the performers shifts and falls apart until only fragments remain – a radical transformation that demands a great deal of the performers: they are forced to surrender to new situations.

How much can they mean to each other, balancing high in the air and hanging upside down, when everything comes under pressure? The crumbling of their shared foothold also gives the performers new possibilities for movement and brings more dynamism. What was once a static environment has become an unpredictable playing field full of surprising challenges – with gravity and with each other. New experiences that call for even more mutual trust...

In Don’t despair you as a spectator are drawn into a physical story – high in the air – that tilts every perspective and soon makes you forget that the performers never touch the floor. Don’t despair is a search for hope in a changing world and shows, in a sensory way, how we can lose each other or hold on to each other.
