In VALLICHT actor Romijn Conen tells the moving story of a man in his fifties who is thrown out of the house by his wife: “I can no longer be your partner if you keep hiding behind your disabilities. You are more than that, but you can’t see it yourself any more!”

And so he sets off across the Netherlands on his tricycle to find out what he is still worth! To himself? That too, but even more so to all those people who believed in him but let him go one by one because he was (in his own view) no more than a man in default… That he only ever took – and gave nothing back. In this gripping monologue we hear how this man, despite his aphasia, manages to find words for his resurrection (which doctors had deemed impossible) and for his wife’s loving cry that he must try to be ‘Romijn’ again! This partly autobiographical piece marks Romijn Conen’s comeback on the Dutch stage. A cry of life from an actor pur sang.
