The Kik plays The Beatles, reimagined in Dutch in their own inimitable way. They’ve been compared to the Fab Four since day one; now it’s really happening.

The Kik was formed in Rotterdam around 2012 and quickly grew into one of the most idiosyncratic and best-loved bands in the Netherlands. With their retro sound, steeped in sixties influences, and Dutch-language lyrics full of humour and poetry, they carved out a place all their own in the Dutch music scene. Several albums and sold-out venues followed. Frontman Dave von Raven became one of the most recognisable voices of his generation.

The band has also proved more than capable beyond its own songwriting. The Kik Hertaalt (2017), a homage to Dutch-language classics, was widely embraced. With The Kik Hertaalt Eurovisie (2022) they showed they can bend any genre to their will, with trademark flair and without one wink too many.

Now they’re donning the collarless jacket for their greatest hero. The question has followed them for years: ‘You do Beatles songs in Dutch, don’t you?’ The answer was always no – until now. The show focuses on The Beatles’ early work, from 1962 to 1966. Not a nostalgic copy of the studio records, but sharp, idiosyncratic and with a deep love for the song.
