Alex Roeka

As an artist you are on the road a lot. It's a different life. You don't actually have a home and when you arrive there, often in the middle of the night, you experience it as an empty, strange place.

They sing 'The highway is my home' in America and there is something in that. Over the years you get home in your car, on the highways, in the theaters, the cafes, the hotels and at the gas stations.

It is a rootless, but if you can handle it, on the whole, pleasant way of life, which also has spiritual repercussions: you keep moving and sensitive to change and adventure.

Alex Roeka's current theater program is inspired by thirty years of being on the road. The title is therefore 'ON DRIFT'.
