Bambie speelt Bambi

Bambie speelt Bambi

Theater en toneel

It had to happen: a performance about the deer after which Mimetheater group Bambie is named. Who hasn't been enchanted by the most famous children's film of all time? And what does it actually say? At Walt Disney, Bambi grows up in an idyllic forest where all talking animals are friends, and he finds his destiny with a love partner and as the father of new Bambis. But that's a heavy romanticization of the original story. In Austrian writer Felix Salten's 1923 book, nature is cruel and Bambi is left alone. Because in order to survive, you have to learn to trust yourself.

In its own visual theater language - wildly absurdist and emotionally charged - Mimetheater group Bambie - contrasts Disney romance and Salten realism. Iconic film scenes get a new translation: Bambi's adorable birth, the slapstick slide on the ice, the death of Bambi's mother, the hormonal discovery of love. The forest is a home where the elements of nature penetrate. Inhabited by human figures with animal urges. In Bambie plays Bambi, three individuals seek a personal answer to the question of what our 'natural' destiny is. And what life lessons are needed to mature in this day and age.  You can reserve a spot for this free of charge during the ordering process.
