After a season playing Edna Turnblad in the hit musical Hairspray, Richard Groenendijk is back with a brand-new solo show: ‘Gelukkig heb je mij nog’.
Groenendijk has become a fixture of Dutch theatres. His previous show ‘Voor iedereen beter’ was received with acclaim by press and public alike, earning him the prestigious ‘Poelifinario’, the award for the best cabaret show of the season. An award, incidentally, that he picked up for the second time in his career.
According to the press, Richard can do it all. Reviewers have called him crude, subtle, endearing, sensitive, serious and, above all, outrageously funny. A man who unleashes a bloodbath of cheerful insults, yet always makes room for tenderness and valuable reflection. A mercilessly comic born entertainer at the peak of his powers. As one critic wrote of his previous show: “Truly áll the brakes come off and he sets Carré alight. Laughter ripples through the auditorium, the way we knew it from Toon Hermans.”
In ‘Gelukkig heb je mij nog’, Groenendijk once again takes the audience by the hand on a journey through his life. A colourful life in which there is always some fire or other to put out.
